Arshad wants to dance again

But that hasn’t quelled Arshad Warsi’s enthusiasm for dancing as he was in town recently to shortlist participants for a dance competition
Arshad wants to dance again
He danced his way into Bollywood with Aankh Maare in his debut, Tere Mere Sapne. But Arshad Warsi hasnt got to shake a leg in a film since then.
I love to dance and know that I dance well. In fact, I was the first Indian to represent the country at the World Dance Competition, in which I came fourth. But what can I do? My directors dont let me dance, he sighs.
Still, dancing will always be a part of him, says Arshad.

And thats what brought him to Bangalore recently. Ive come down to select dancers for the Dance Premier League. Since dance is my passion, I thought why not live it through this show? says Arshad. But he wont be around to cheer the competing teams. Ishqiya is ready for release and I have to get back to my home production, Kaun Bola?, besides other upcoming projects, he says.
After being in the making for one-and-a-half years, Arshads maiden production, Kaun Bola? is finally nearing completion. Ill release it after Vishal Bhardwajs Ishqiya, probably in January. Ishqiya got pushed because of Kamineys delay, so I had to postpone Kaun Bola?, explains Arshad. When asked how different Ishqiya is from Kaminey, Arshad says, Theyre different films with the same feel and sensibilities. Itll be Vishals style and genre. I like the texture, characterisation, the thrill and realism that Ishqiya boasts of.
After a string of multi-starrers and comedies, Arshad will next be seen in leads and non-comic roles. Even multi-starrers are fine as long as the production house and the director are good. As far as comedy is concerned, I know I can carry off anything. I can play any character except a woman, smiles Arshad.
With such a tight schedule, how does he find time for his family? Usually, I shoot for 4-5 films at a time, take a long break and then start all over again. This way, I get to spend a lot of time with them. Even now, Im on a holiday and this is my last month of luxury. Next, Im off to South Africa for a shoot, then London, says Arshad.
And all is well between him and wife Maria, he maintains: The rumours are a result of peoples perception. Im glad that because of this our relationship has grown stronger.
